Execution Bias: Your Key to Success

Hey there,

This week, I want to talk about something that’s crucial for achieving any goal you set: Execution.

We often get caught up in the excitement of planning and strategizing, but without actual execution, those plans remain just that—plans.

You have to prioritise execution in all your endeavours because that's all that truly matters.

Planning to do the work, deciding, deliberating about it, writing on how you are going to do that thing, telling people about it—none of that counts unless you are sitting down and doing the work.

Think of it like preparing to plant a tree.

You can read all the books about gardening, buy the best tools, and tell everyone about your plans for a beautiful garden. But until you dig that hole and plant the seed, nothing will grow.

The seed won’t sprout just because you talked about it or planned it meticulously. It requires you to get your hands dirty and put in the actual work.

I need you to start having an execution bias. Prioritize doing, anytime, any day.

It's so easy to get stuck in the planning phase, getting those little dopamine hits by thinking about it and feeling like you're making progress.

Planning feels productive, but without action, it's just an illusion of progress.

Here's what I always say: get a clear picture of that big goal you're working on, break it down into smaller chunks of daily tasks, and just focus on those.

It’s like building a house. You don't construct the entire house in one go. You lay one brick at a time, ensuring each is placed correctly, and eventually, you have a sturdy house.

Let’s take an example. Suppose you have a goal to write a book. Planning involves outlining your chapters, deciding on themes, and setting deadlines. But the book won't write itself.

You need to commit to writing a certain number of words every day.

Even if it’s just 500 words a day, those small, consistent efforts will accumulate, and before you know it, you’ll have a complete manuscript.

Keep going, putting in the reps daily, and prioritizing execution on what matters on a daily basis.

This daily grind might seem slow, but it’s the only way to achieve lasting results. Consistency in execution builds momentum. Each small step forward brings you closer to your goal.

Execution is the key to success. It’s the only thing that will take you from where you are to where you want to be.

So, let's get to it. Focus on doing, not just planning, and watch yourself grow.

Remember, dreams remain dreams without action.

Prioritize execution, stay committed to your daily tasks, and your goals will transform into reality.

With you on this Journey, always.

Uthman.
